Meet Danielle. Two years ago, at just 26 years old, this vibrant, driven young woman had her life turned upside down when she was diagnosed with breast cancer. With no family history of cancer, Danielle was confused and panicked to find a lump the size of a lemon in her right breast. Around this time, she had just bought her first house with fiancé Jack, and they were planning their wedding, with talk of travelling and eventually starting a family. With a horrific journey ahead of her, Danielle decided to face it head on, and fight for her life. She then found out that she actually had a mutation in her PTEN gene, which increased her risk of breast cancer by 85%. With rigorous chemotherapy treatments causing a perforated appendix, a double mastectomy and a total breast reconstruction, two years later, Danielle and her partner have now frozen six embryos and she is undergoing hormone treatment. Her grit and tenacity is both inspiring and empowering, and today, Danielle is using her experience as a voice and a platform to encourage other young women to check their breasts. She is a Strong Woman.
